I started off by using the rectangular marquee tool to square out part of the image i needed. I then copied it and pasted it onto the 2 panel cd template i created myself. I pasted it onto the right panel as when the prototype is folded this image will appear at the front.
As the image was too dark for my liking i decided to adjust the brightness and contrast. So on the PhotoShop toolbar at the very top of the screen, i hovered on Images > Adjustments > Brightness and Contrast.
Now the image appears more bright and bolder.
On the left panel i copied and pasted from google images the image of splatted ink.
I resized it by pressing 'CMD T' and moved it to a position i was happy with by using the 'move' tool on the toolbar.
I wanted to change the colour of this image so that it matched the image on the right panel, i wanted the images to blend well together.
And so what i did was use the 'Magic Wand Tool'
which selects a portion of the image with the same colour (it was easy to select as the background was plain white)
I then hovered over Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient.
It brought me to a smaller window (shown below).
I then used the 'Eyedropper Tool'
and selected the background colour of the image on the right, so that the background colour of the image on the left matched it. Clicking on 'Gradient' instead of 'Solid' helps blend the two sides together.
This is the outcome so far. Now the two sides blend well.
NOW ITS TIME TO ADD THE TEXT...
I went on my favourite website for fonts. Which is dafonts.com
This website is where i found the calligraphy/handwritten fonts that i showed in my other blog post.
I stumbled upon this...

I downloaded the font and saved it onto my mac using FontBook, this automatically saves it a a font for all my applications that contains fonts.
So in this screen grab you can see it has been saved as a font on PhotoShop..
I felt that the colour orange for the font helps bring out the colour from the fashion sketch. Also as the the background is water washed white/yellow/orange, it is appropriate to have the font the same colour as long as its more bolder.
I chose the font 'Sweetly Broken' and downloaded it...(repeated process)
There was no specific reason to choosing this colour, except for that fact that its my favourite colour, and i guess it goes with the orange.
It took me a while to decide whether this font and colour looked tacky, but i have a feeling im just being too fussy. I took a break and came back to it and my first thoughts were 'it looks great' - so im keeping it like this.
(Quick thoughts on my cover so far)...Im liking it! I feel that its not over done at all, very simple in fact. Yet the fashion sketch adds that bit of complexity. I think is perfect how the background is plain, i feel if i add any motifs or patters around it would make the artwork look like vomit.
I did not continue with the back or inner panels as this is only a draft.
