After we had completed our music video, it was shown at the cinema to other students. After we had watched everyones videos, my group decided to get some feedback on what people thought about our music video.
In the feedback we got we realised that people noticed our choice of costume and editing most. We were told that the scene on the bench where the male character then the artist disappear really reflects how emotional the artist actually is. Our choice of costume was clearly effective for the audience because no one else chose a dress like ours. Our costume was really over the top with the dress, and we got our influence from Beyonce's video. We were also told that our video made a lot more sense because of the black and white sections, it made the story line more clear to some of the audience.
We posted our video on vimeo so that people could watch it and comment on it. Not many people commented on it but when they did we got outstanding feedback. Most people loved our choice of scenery so I guess going to four different locations paid off. They also said that our difference in costume from casual everyday clothing to a big fancy dress was effective as it was expected and didn't necessarily fit in with the video.
I JPEGs of my digipak on Facebook so that I could get some audience feedback, I got lots of positive feedback and it made me feel as though my digipak was good enough and conveyed my clear genre of Pop and Indie.
What I learnt from my audience feedback...
All together I learnt that we have to not just think about what we as video makers want for our video but also think about what our niche audience would like. We had a specific genre of Indie and Pop and we thought a lot about what they want in a video as well as what they would expect. I also learnt that close ups didn't always work with the audience and lots of them preferred
the long shots of our artist in her dress. I was also told that the fast bit of editing and the beginning of the video was one of the most effective parts as it showed a lot about the story line, and was a good introduction. For my digipak I noticed that I had to make the font a lot smaller and focus more on the images of the actual artist rather than the information on the CD. I was told my images were perfect for my genre as they were quite girly and focused on how beautiful my artist looked.
How I would change my video and digipak if I could...
If my group had a chance to change my video, I think we would have concentrated more on the editing and less on the filming. We spent a lot of time on filming possibly too much time, and this effected our editing time. Also I think I would have maybe had a wider range of shots and more shots of my artist in the dress as I think this was the most effective. I personally wouldn't want to change anything about our costume because I think it was perfect and we got a lot of positive feedback about it, we could change her make-up and hair and make that more noticeable and dramatic in some scenes such as the park scene and the fight with the male character. I would change a lot when it comes to my digipak, I wish I had been a lot better on Photoshop and then I could of done more with effects, I also felt as though I could have added more effects to my pictures and therefore my digipak would have been a lot better.
