Evaluation question 3

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

During the process of making our music videos and our digipaks we used new state of the art;

-Memory cards
-Video cameras
-Phones and Ipods
-Batteries
-Spotlights

We also used the internet for research purposes and use websites such as
-Facebook
-Twitter
-Youtube
-Vimeo
-Photobucket

Whilst editing we used
-Final Cut Pro
-Photoshop
-Viola
-MPEG
-Screen Grabs
Screen recordings

We also used Blogger for research, planning and evaluation.

For my music video we used;

Batteries for our video cameras that we filmed all of our footage with.

We used the spotlight on top of the camera for when it got dark when we were filming inside my house.

 We used our phones to record what we were doing so that we could upload it to the blog and talk about what we had done.

          We then used our Ipods so that we our artist could sing along to our chosen song, so that she the miming didn't go out of time.  When we then went to edit our footage and put the song on the video and was all in time.
 I used MPEG so that I could turn videos into MP4's so that I could put them on the blogger, I found this piece of technology very simple once it had been explained to me, it was also very useful and quick and I used it often so that I could upload clips to the blog.
 We were given memory cards to record are filming on, this aloud us to film a lot of footage so that when we went to edit we had loads of clips to choose from.

 I personally find final cut pro quite difficult but in the end I always manage to get used to it.  I think if I had used it the whole year to get the hang of it for longer I would have found it easier to edit all our clips.  However Whilst editing I learned out to import and export our clips as well as how to render them :D  These are a few screen grabs from our final editing in our music video.

The video cameras that we were given were probably the most useful bit of equipment that we used throughout the whole project, they were easy to use and didn't let us down too badly, although we once nearly lost our clips as they weren't recorded properly. However we managed to get them back and onto the computer safely.
This piece of technology was very useful towards the end of our music video.  It allowed me to record what I was editing and then upload it through MPEG to the blog.  All it does is just record whatever you are doing on the computer and automatically saves it to the desktop, instead of having to record it to a phone and then upload it to the computer.

 Vimeo is the website we used to upload the final cut music videos, we upload them to vimeo to get some sort of feeback from people.  Its sort of like Youtube.  We also used Youtube for our researching of our music video.  We searched different genres to find out which one we wanted to pick and then from the blog would upload the videos to show where we got our ideas from.  Youtube was one of the main websites I personally used whilst researching.
 Finally in our music video we had to use Sound Cut Pro to edit our music because we chose not to use the whole song, so we had to edit our song to our video so that the artists miming was in sync with the song.  These are two screen shots from our actual sound editing for our music video.

For my Ancillary products I used;

   We used the still camera to take pictures of our artist to use for our digipak.  Still cameras are very easy to use and its easy to upload your pictures straight from the camera on to the computer.
 I have used google through out my research, planning and evaluation processes, it is the most useful piece of technology and has allowed to gain enough information about real excisting media products so that I can use some ideas from other artists.

 I personally only used Facebook but I know that people also used twitter in order to gain feeback on both our videos and our digiapk,  it allows people to give us their opinion and we could also screen grab what they had said to upload to Blogger.

I firstly tired Voila in a media lesson and found that it was quite useful.  Its pretty much a more simple version of Photoshop, obviously it is less effective and doesn't have so many responsibilities.

This piece of of technology is called Slide Share it allows to write in all sort of information and it gives you a slide show of whatever you want to write about.  Its basically a more interesting way of writing texts.
These four pictures are screen grabs of Photoshop.  I used Photoshop to edit all my pictures and mainly to change the colours and shapes of the pictures and to add text over the top of them.  I personally didn't use any effects as I didn't think they looked very professional.  I kept my digipak very simple and I think it stuck to my genre very well.

From the begining to the end of creating both my ancillary products and my music video, I used many different technologies to help me with the research, planning and evaluation tasks.

Blogger for research, planning and evaluation.
