Review Of Student Video

"Begging"  http://vimeo.com/2277795
Representation: defiantly very strong in this video and uses the theory of Laura Mulvey, using the male as the dominant sex and ladies symbolising sexuality. In specific when the females are dancing around the males while they are sitting down represents this.
Narrative Structure: Is defiantly amplification as the video doesn't really have a great deal of similarity with the lyrics, but it does in some parts for example the lyric “begging”  relates to the males trying to get their girlfriends back.
The video also follows a certain structure explained by carol vernallis, as the video always goes to a backtrack of the males performing to the camera and edits sync with the rhythm of the music.

The edits were put together wonderfully and the jump cuts were in perfect timing with the music.

The camera work was good as well with:
  • Mid shots
  • Long shots
  • Over shoulder shot
  • Handheld
  • Point of view shot
  • High angled shot
One thing that i did notice is that some of the shots were very still and you could tell that no one was holding the camera. But the shots that were moving with the music were very good.
