Analysis of Music Video

This music video is called  'Cater 2 U' by the now disbanded girl group Destiny's Child.

This music video uses good use of mid shots to show the sex appeal of the women, there is also a good use of wide shots to establish the location.  The music video has a lot of jump cuts and the cuts are very fast and precise.  The camera is mostly moving in the shots, but i do not think it is hand held, as it seems too perfect (maybe a camera dolly is used for tracking and panning). In a lot of the shots the camera is held towards the ground pointing up at the women, making them appear more powerful, which is also a meaning of the song. There is also close ups of certain parts of the body (02:31 close up of the man's eyes).

The edits are fast, and in some parts of the music video it blacks out, before cutting back to the base track - making it feel like the viewer is blinking and when they open they're eyes they are in a new place again. There is also a part in the music video (02:48) where a fast forward effect is used and the set, changes from day to night in the process. I think this is a good effect because it is not something used in most music videos, and because it is a nice visual.
