Analysis of Beyonce's: Best thing I never had

I have decided to analyse Beyonce's music video Best thing I never had. My reason for wanting to analyze Beyonce's: Best thing I never had. Is because of the mise en scene and the locations used in Beyonce's music video.

We decided to have our actress/ artsit Charlie Jayne wearing a lovely ball gown style dress for our music video and as you can see from the image below Beyonce is also wearing a beautiful wedding dress. Obviously Charlie Jayne isnt going to be wearing a wedding dress but I feel like the two dresses are similar in a way as they are both ball gown type dresses.

When it came to filming our music video we also filmed in a beautiful park, again just like you can see in the image below Beyonce also filmed in a park. What makes this shot important to our music video is what Beyonce is holding on to, the branches are exactly the same style as the ones that we had our artist Charlie Jayne standing near and also holding on to.

The shot below in which you see Beyonce running away is again significant due to the fact that in our music video we also had an idea to show our artist Charlie Jayne running through the park. But unfortunatly we wasnt able to film this as thepark got to dark. I think this shot is beautiful as it gives you a chance to see the beautiful view around Beyonce.

As you can see from the image below of Beyonce and her boyfriend in the music video this is showing a memory of when they were happy together. This can be linked to our music video as we showed a number of flashback of when Charlie Jayne and her ex boyfriend James were happy. I think this is a good shot to use as it is showing you just how happy Beyonce was in the video. I also think by showing previuos memories it is a way of showing the audience of what the storyline in the music video is .

Although when it came to researching for my music video I didn't intial list Beyonce's Best thing you never had as one of our inspirations. That is because at the time it wasn't and it wasnt until we had planned our shots and chosen our locations. That Beyonce's music video was going to be very similar to how our music video was going to turn out.
