What is a digipak?
A digipak is a more creative and upgraded version of a normal CD album. Its includes a lot more than a normal CD. Such as more pictures a small booklet usually containing the pictures or lyrics. They consist of usually four six or eight folds and usually contain an extra CD of original recordings or a DVD about the artist. They are visually very pleasing to the audience, and are usually made for big fans of the artist, it gives those fans something a little extra and these are the sort of people that will pay the money for a digipak, as they are expensive. Most of them don't just contain pictures but also contain some sort of graphic design.
What is the importance of a digipak?
Digipaks are mainly important for the music industry and the artist. This is because in the end it earns the both of them a lot more money. It also allows the industry to broaden out into different 'mediums'. And finally they both hope that it will help to combat piracy and illegal music downloading, as you cannot download a digipak.
These are a few examples of digipaks.
I also found this slide whilst researching digipak's, it didnt say on the website who it was from, but I think it may have been a music manager from the United States.
