Importance of Digipaks

A digipak is a CD package (for music or DVD) that does not use the traditional jewel casing making it easier to handle and less breakable (that's a word right?). It usually consists of four to six panels (sides/covers) and are considered more expensive than CDs, mainly because of the extras given inside the digipak (booklets, pictures etc.)

Digipaks are important because it bring in more profit to the company and the artist and advertises more. It helps battle the long war of piracy a digipaks can not be download and you get special 'gifts' for buying a digipak. They are also useful because the help promote the artist and the buyer can get to know the artist in their own way if they buy the digipak and go through the pictures, booklets and what ever comes with it.
