Make-up, Hair and Costume for Sophies character

The make up we want to do for Sophie is mainly using a lot of eye make-up we plan to keep the skin quite clear and add a sort of darkness to her character through her eye make up.

 

 We then want her hair to be either in a messy bun or natuarlly down, although she has made not much effort maybe slept in her hair how it is, not washed it or anything.















Sophie's character will wear things such as ugg boots,leggings and baggy jumpers.  Sophie's over all look is sort of like she has no energy to look nice, and no one to look nice for.  Cant be bothered look is what id call it.

We will have 4 characters all together, this will include Sophie, Charlene, my boyfriend to play the male character and my dog.

Sophie is going to play the character Sofie Gray

 charlene is going to play the main artist in the music video. 

I do not have a picture of the male character but he is reliable and is able to be there on the days of filming when we get back from half term.

Props

We wont need many props in our video, apart from Charlenes guitar and possibly an umbrella depending on the weather.  Everything else is either part of my house or is already in the mise en scene.

The umbrella is for Sophies character depending on the weather if she needs an umbrella then we will include it in the video.

Charlene is going to have to guitar sync with the music, as we will also be lip syncing.  This is going to be hard but we believe that the video will look a lot better with this.

For this we just did a few test shots with the video camera,white board and music in one of the classrooms.

It worked really well and was able dry different camera angles. Hopefully soon the video will be uploaded =D - Zahra.

*These pictures were taking in one of the media classrooms during friday's 3 hour lesson. The lesson was the only time we managed to get our hands on the camera and so we wanted to make that time productive. We felt that it would be a waste of time travelling to our locations as they were pretty far, so we made a fake setting in the media room by using the projection board. It was easy, we just projected full screen images of locations similar to the places we really are going to use onto PowerPoint. Like in two of the photos you can see a park (regents)

Adding on to what Zahra said, we managed to practice our manuel focusing as well as panning without the use of a tripod. We liked the idea of filming without a tripod as we feel it makes the music video more personal - almost like a visual representation of Sofie's Journal/diary. We shall expand on our free hand filming.

Overall I feel the girls did a great job in making our lesson productive. Sophie performs very well in front of the camera, she can act her character without the need of her fellow members to tell her what to do.

Zahra has a natural gift with cameras being a photography student we feel we have the advantage to film with interesting composition and angles. She has a good eye for this.

I do feel im getting better with my lip singing. Practice does make perfect! :) - Charlene.

So when it came to deciding how the actress should have her hair and make up we all had the same idea that the girl's make should be dark and gloomy. By that I mean that we will be focusing solely on her eye make up, which be dark and smoky.  As the girl will be sad and lonely she would have been crying so her make up will be smeared down her face, which will add to the fact that she is quite depressed.  When it comes to her aspects of her make up it will be quite minimal as our main focus will be on the actress eyes.

When it comes to the actress hair she will have quite a simple hair style, which will either be a messy bun or she will have her hair down and long but it will be quite messy, as she is not really focusing on her hair and make up. As at this stage she dont really care what she looks like as she is just thinking about getting away from her troubled life.
